Wildlife Images: Southern Oregon's Animal Friend

Wildlife Images

Is this about the cutest animal photo you've ever seen? Wildlife Images, located in Grants Pass, Oregon works daily to rehabilitate native animals that have been hurt or orphaned. Executive Director, Dave Siddon, is quoted as saying, "A place where wild things arrive to get a helping hand, and leave having given us the ability to understand."

While visiting southern Oregon, do not forget to stop by and tour Wildlife Images (WI). The tour offers visitors a glimpse into how wild creatures survive in the wild. One new addition, "Nestle" a North American River Otter, arrived at Wildlife Images on March 17th, 2011. She came from Universal Studios in Florida. The studio wanted to "retire" Nestle from film work and wanted to find her a permanent home. Wildlife Images just happened to have a beautiful River Otter enclosure in Critter Creek waiting for a tenant. Nestle's last film (before retiring to Wildlife Images) was Evan Almighty!

It seems serendipitous that Nestle found her way to Wildlife Images in 2011 as WI is celebrating, "The Year of the Otter." This means the facility is giving their attention to educating guests about river otters (commonly found on the Rogue River the photo above of a Rogue River otter was taken on one of our Rogue River rafting & kayaking trips). Wildlife Images exists on donations by generous people like you. Your donations ensure that Nestle can continue teaching others about her special species, and the need for these amazing animals to remain in the wild.

Check out Wildlife Images' website or call them at 541-476-0222.

The Grants Pass Active Club, has stepped up to sponsor the display. The fireworks show will be held at the Josephine County Fairgrounds.

A little farther south, in Medford, the town is having their "Red, White & Boom" fireworks celebration. Fireworks will be displayed at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.

Looks like Rogue River rafters and kayakers have several choices over the 4th of July weekend. Spend it celebrating the 4th and then cap it off with a multi-day Rogue River trip! Boom-tacular!
